Fazal and Noble are Latest additions to Ashdowns Squad
Joe Ashdown has added two more new faces to the squad as he continues to add depth to the top end of the club to join and add to the three new faces that signed before christmas in Adam Burton, Mat and Lee Archer.
Waseem Fazal has signed from Division Two outfit Duffield where he impressed last season finishing 3rd in the leagues bowling statistics taking 41 wickets at 17 a peice. His accuracy and movement has impressed the Spondon captain during a serious of winter net sessions with the club and Ashdown was keen to get his signature secured.
Michael Noble arrives from Mickleover and is a very promising 16 year old all rounder which Ashdown see's great potential in. The club has always looked to invest time in young players and nuturing their potential and this signing is clearly in line with that policy. Michael was part of the England Indoor U 19 squad when aged 14 that competed in Australia where he joined our own Tom Williams (TJ) on that tour.
The club would like to welcome both players to the club and wich them both every success as they start their time at Spondon CC.

Junior Cricket
CLub Unhappy With change of nights for U13's & U11's.
Major changes were announced at the Erewash League meeting much to the disapointment of Spondon CC who voted against the changes. In a vote that was split the decision was decided by a club who don't even play in the relevant age groups. The decision means that our junior teams will change the days they play their fixtures, this has already meant the loss of two establised coaches who will be no longer available to manage a team. As such junior chair of cricket is working hard to find replacements.

ASHDOWN SECURES TRIPLE SIGNINGS
First team captain Joe Ashdown has been busy speaking to players and has confirmed the signings of three players with ECB Premier League experience as he looks to strengthen the top end of the club. Joe moved quickly at the end of the season to make approaches to a number of players. The transfers have now been completed and the club are pleased to welcome Adam Burton from Alfreton CC and brothers Lee and Matt Archer from Elvaston CC.
Adam Burton started playing his junior cricket at Sawley before moving to Sandiacre, after a brief stay he moved to Matlock CC where he began to make a big impression opening the bowling which led Alfreton to move for the young right armer. Last season Adam finished 9th in the premier league leading wicket takers in a side that struggled where he took 41 wickets at 26 a piece. Adam had a number of clubs chasing his signature this winter and we are pleased to confirm he has decided to join Spondon.
Lee Archer has been a loyal member of the Elvaston side that has had such success over the last 10 years and been an intergral part of that side. Lee has been for some time widely reagarded as one of the best glovemen around local cricket. He is equally adept standing back or up to the stumps and is a very agile wicketkeeper. He has proven to be a very useful batsmen that is lightening quick over the 22 yards.
Brother Matt again has been a loyal and solid performer at Elvaston where he has made his way through the ranks to be a key part of the Elvaston first team. Matt finished with over 500 runs last season that was a very useful contribution to his club. Matt is an adaptable batsmen who can adjust to the differing needs of an innings and will prove to be a very useful acquistion for the club this season.
We wish all 3 players every success as they start their Spondon careers and are very pleased that they have chosen to join us.
