'Taking The Field'
Spondon Cricket Club is one of 3 clubs in the UK to be invited to take part in a project called 'Taking The Field'
The project is a partnership between the MCC and the University Of Glamorgan that will run over 2 years and collect 'digital stories' from local cricket clubs. The project will chart the changes, both good and bad, experienced by clubs and communities over the past century. The stories will be displayed by the MCC Museum both online and at Lord's.
Dr Emma Paplow the Research Associate who is working on the project came to Spondon Cricket Club to meet our members. Emma was at the club on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May. We had a great 2 days and Emma interviewed and recorded the stories of 16 members. Emma then came again on 24th June and interviewed several other members. To find out more and see how the stories are taking shape please take a look at the 'Taking The Field' facebook page http://www.facebook.com/takingthefield
Taking The Field now has a web site and Spondon C.C. has it's own pages. Have a look at the excellent stories Emma has written about the club, it's history and it's recent achievments. There are also super photograph's up on the website. Five of our digital story have now gone 'live'. Keep having a look as Emma is adding new material everyday.

Spondon Cricket Club Is Now Generating Electricity
On September 22nd we switched on 18 Solar PV panels installed on our roof. We are now generating our own electricity using a renewable energy source, helping to reduce the cost of our electricity and reduce our carbon footprint in the community.
